BOSTON, MA – Last night, Boston College property workers voted overwhelmingly in favor of a contract that would provide 5% raises over two years and maintain affordable health care benefits for property service workers. The contract covers nearly 300 custodians, groundskeepers and skilled trades workers who maintain and repair buildings throughout the BC campus.

“This agreement honors the valuable contributions of the hardworking men and women who make BC a strong university,” said Roxana Rivera, Vice President and District Director of 32BJ SEIU.

The unity and strength of 32BJ members, combined with BC’s strong financial footing resulted in an agreement that maintains strong middle-class jobs in the Boston area.

The 285 custodians, groundskeepers and skilled trades workers continue to have access to quality, cost-effective healthcare and will be better able to provide for themselves and their families and put money back into their local communities.

Workers settled on a two-year deal that would allow them to be covered by a strong and stable healthcare plan that won’t see significant changes over the life of the contract.

With more than 145,000 members in 11 states and Washington DC, including 18,000 members in the Boston Area, 32BJ is the largest property service workers union in the country.
