A Higher Minimum Wage Will Help Workers Climb Out Of Poverty

The following statement can be attributed to Kurt Westby, Director of 32BJ in Connecticut:

“Speaker Donovan should be praised for his proposal to raise the minimum wage. A higher minimum wage will help thousands of working men and women across Connecticut climb out of poverty, boosting their buying power and putting more dollars into local businesses,” said Kurt Westby, Director of 32BJ SEIU in Connecticut.

“With glaring income inequality and alarming levels of poverty, wage standards are indispensable. If we are serious about revitalizing our economy and helping working families, we must continue the fight to ensure that all workers are paid a fair wage and decent benefits.”

With more than 120,000 members in eight states and Washington, D.C., including 4,500 in Connecticut, 32BJ SEIU is the largest union of property service workers in the country.
