The following statement can be attributed to SEIU 32BJ President Kyle Bragg:
“As a union with a majority of Black and brown members who live in communities most affected by the historical criminalization of marijuana, we applaud the leadership of our NYS Assembly and Senate for centering racial equity in their approach to remaking our state’s marijuana laws and policies. We also recognize the hard work and leadership that advocates, mostly people of color, have put in to get us here, and we look forward to swift approval for this legislation by both houses, and for it to be signed into law by the Governor, so we can work to undo the multi-generational harm that marijuana criminalization and sentencing have wrought on so many of our communities.”
With more than 175,000 members, SEIU 32BJ is that largest building service union in the country
