Following a Silent March w/Edwards at Logan,

Boston, MA—On Tuesday, November 16—following an early morning silent march for better wages at Logan Airport, during which Lydia Edwards and airport workers were stopped from continuing their peaceful protest—Executive Vice President Roxana Rivera announced 32BJ SEIU’s endorsement of the City Councilor in her State Senate run to represent the first Suffolk and Middlesex district, which includes East Boston and Logan Airport.
Rivera made the announcement at East Boston Memorial Park to the cheers of airport workers, who Edwards has supported throughout her time as City Councilor in their continued fight for unionization and improved standards at Logan.
“Today and countless times before, Councilwoman Lydia Edwards has supported us, and we are proud to support her now in her State Senate run. She is the best candidate to represent this community as she shown throughout her time as City Councilor in her continued commitment to affordable housing, strong union jobs, and racial justice,” said Executive Vice President of 32BJ SEIU Roxana Rivera.
“I’m beyond excited and honored to have the support of 32BJ SEIU. This organization is one of the most diverse and is truly dedicated to social justice. Having 32BJ’s support means everything to me,” said City Councilor Lydia Edwards. “I cannot wait to fight for you when I’m a Senator!”
32BJ SEIU will kick off its GOTV efforts— including text blasts, door knocking, and phone calls throughout the first district—in the coming weeks to drum up support for Lydia Edwards ahead of the December special election day.
