The following statement may be attributed to Kyle Bragg, President 32BJ SEIU:
“The President’s plan to slash a trillion dollars from programs that make health care affordable shows that he is deeply out of step with the priorities of hardworking families. This budget just confirms what we already know: that the President’s massive tax breaks for the wealthy and big corporations are being paid for by cutting Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, Social Security and other vital services.
“At a time when so many hardworking Americans are one medical emergency away from bankruptcy, it is disturbing that the President is so brazenly cutting the healthcare that millions of families rely on. The pain from these cuts would hurt communities on all ends of the economic spectrum. Not only are millions of children reliant on the Children’s Health Insurance Program, 65% of all nursing home residents are supported by Medicaid. The President’s budget is truly an act of cruelty that harms the young and old alike.”
