PITTSBURGH–Bill Peduto’s primary election marks a victory for working families and will usher in a new era of good governance, Gabe Morgan 32BJ SEIU Pennsylvania State Director said today.
“By choosing Bill Peduto, voters sent a message that they want a mayor who will stand up for working people and fight for an economy that works for everyone,” said Morgan. “Peduto’s election represents a sea change in government and a opportunity for working people to finally have a champion in city hall. “Bill Peduto will give us the chance to move forward and be as proud of our mayor as we are of our great city.”
32BJ SEIU members endorsed Peduto in February and have since carried out an aggressive voter outreach program.
Marla Blunt was one of hundreds of 32BJ SEIU members who rallied, knocked on 10,000 doors and made thousands of phone calls over the last four months.
“I am proud to help spread the word about a candidate who will fight for me,” said Blunt. “Pittsburgh needs Bill Peduto to move our city forward.”
With 125,000 members in seven states and Washington, D.C., including 22,000 in Pennsylvania, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country.
