Newark, N.J. – 32BJ, one of the fastest-growing unions in New Jersey with 12,000 members in the state and 163,000 nationwide, announced today its endorsement of current Assemblyman Reed Gusciora in his run for Trenton mayor in the upcoming June 12 election.
“During his 22 years serving in the New Jersey General Assembly, Reed Gusciora has initiated and voted for progressive legislation that has made a difference for working families, including some of our members in Mercer County. Gusciora is a proven leader. As a member of the labor committee in the New Jersey Legislature, Gusciora understands that worker victories come from being able to unionize, because our strength in numbers is our greatest power,” said Kevin Brown, Vice President and New Jersey State Director of 32BJ SEIU. “We believe Gusciora will raise standards for Trenton workers to re-build the middle class in our state’s capital city.”
Gusciora, who has been supportive of labor rights during his time in the New Jersey Assembly, said he was honored to receive the endorsement. “I am humbled and grateful to receive the support of 32BJ SEIU. Workers are the backbone of our economy in New Jersey, and in particular, our capital city of Trenton. I pledge to continue to fight for better wages and benefits for all workers if elected mayor,” Gusciora said.
