32BJ SEIU Endorses Kaminsky For State Senate In Long Island

New York, NY – 32BJ SEIU members today announced their endorsement of Todd Kaminsky for State Senate in Long Island.

The seat was vacated by former Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos after he was arrested for corruption. Kaminsky is a stark contrast, known for his work fighting corruption in Albany. The special election takes place April 19.

“Todd Kaminsky is known on Long Island for fighting against government corruption and fighting for policies that will help Long Island’s working families gain a stronger foothold in the middle class and defend their rights,” said 32BJ President Héctor Figueroa. “Todd has supported airport workers in their fight for fair pay and a union and he is a strong ally in our fight for a $15 minimum wage for all workers in the state.”

As a state Assemblyman, Kaminsky advocated strongly for Long Beach residents affected by Hurricane Sandy, getting the state to speed up reimbursement for housing reconstruction. As a federal prosecutor, he successfully prosecuted several state officials for corruption.

In addition to his commitment to make sure New York state government serves the people, Kaminsky represents values 32BJ members hold dear, such as supporting workers’ rights on the job.

With more than 145,000 members, including more than 70,000 in New York City and 2,200 who live and work in Long Island, 32BJ is the largest property services union in the country.
