32BJ SEIU ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENTS IN VITAL NYS SENATE AND CONGRESSIONAL PRIMARY ELECTION CONTESTS

Union held screening sessions and commits resources to campaigns for NYS Legislators

New York, N.Y. — 32BJ SEIU, the largest property services union in the country, announced today its endorsements for the NYS Senate and the US House of Representatives ahead of the August 23rd primary elections. These endorsements come after virtual screening sessions, during which members had the opportunity to voice their concerns regarding NYS policy. With 20 endorsed candidates, 32BJ SEIU’s slate includes long-time incumbents and newcomers united in their commitment to working New Yorkers.

32BJ SEIU President Kyle Bragg said:

“This month’s primaries will determine which candidates will face off against a resurgent and deeply radicalized Republican Party in a fight for control of the NYS Senate and the US House of Representatives. With a far-right Supreme Court determined to dismantle hard-won civil liberties and labor victories, maintaining Democratic majorities in state legislatures and the US House takes on an entirely new dimension of importance. To stop the NY GOP from implementing its own version of the national party’s reactionary agenda in the Empire State and DC, NY Democrats must present a united and powerful front.  That’s why we ensured that every one of our endorsed candidates has proven they are committed and fierce champions for our members and working New Yorkers in Albany and Washington. Our members chose these candidates because each has proven they will center on the needs of the New Yorkers who kept the Empire State running during our darkest days. We look forward to working together to build a New York for all of us.”
