Philadelphia-32BJ SEIU—the union representing the city’s commercial office cleaners, security officers, blue collar school district employees and airport workers—today announced their endorsement of Judy Moore for the city’s 10th Council District. Moore seeks to unseat four-term Republican Councilman Brian O’Neill.
“We support Judy Moore because she will be a vocal advocate for strong public schools and good union jobs. Judy Moore will stand up for all working people in Philadelphia because she understands the obstacles that working families face. On November 5, Philadelphia has a once in a lifetime opportunity to elect a full council that reflects the values of working Philadelphians, not simply corporate special interests,” said Gabe Morgan, Vice President of 32BJ SEIU.
“I want to thank SEIU 32BJ for their endorsement. I decided to run for City Council because the hardworking families of Northeast Philadelphia deserve better. We must all stand together to strengthen our public school and expand access to good union jobs throughout the Northeast. I look forward to working with SEIU and its members to ensure our community continues to be a great place to live and work,” said Judy Moore.
32BJ SEIU—known for its politically active membership—will knock on thousands of doors in Moore’s district prior to November 5.
With more than 175,000 members in 11 states, including 21,000 in PA and DE, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country.
