MERIDEN, CT—32BJ members today announced their endorsement of Danté Bartolomeo for election to the Connecticut State Senate in the 13th District, which includes the towns of Meriden, Cheshire, Middlefield, Middletown and Rockfall. The members endorsed Bartolomeo, who is running on both the Democratic Party and the Working Families Party tickets, to help win a higher minimum wage and more full-time hours for Connecticut workers next year.
Now completing her second term as State Senator, Danté Bartolomeo has stood for workers’ rights in the legislature as an extension of her lifelong commitment to the well-being of families and children. Her opponent Len Suzio, a former Senator who lost to Bartolomeo in two successive races, has supported cutting taxes for the wealthy, introduced legislation that would restrict health services to women, and opposed raising the minimum wage.
“I’m honored to have the support of the hard working members of 32BJ,” Danté Bartolomeo said. “I look forward to standing together with them this coming session as we work toward policies that move our state toward a living wage and encourage companies to adopt employee friendly policies.”
“This year more than ever, our members are supporting candidates who will tackle issues that affect working people, such as raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and increasing full-time work,” said 32BJ Connecticut District Assistant Supervisor Alberto Bernardez. “Danté Bartolomeo has shown her commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of workers in her district and across the state. We are proud to endorse her re-election to continue that fight.”
