32BJ Congratulates Eric Adams on First Place Lead in Democratic Primaries for Mayor

New York – Members of 32BJ congratulated Eric Adams, their endorsed candidate for Mayor, as the city’s Board of Elections reported he received a majority of first-place votes for Mayor in Tuesday’s Democratic primary elections.

“Our members are gratified that we are one step closer to having our city’s top leader be one of them, someone who understand their lives and what working people in the city need,” said 32BJ President Kyle Bragg. “We believe that, as Mayor, Eric will lead a recovery for our city’s workers, and keep all New Yorkers safe. We will continue our strong support to help him become our city’s next Mayor.”

In the past month, over 6500 32BJ volunteers have been mobilized. 32BJ has knocked on 17,000 doors, and members have distributed nearly 100,000 pieces of literature in targeted electoral districts in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens, and had over 500 member volunteers make direct phone calls to 75,000 fellow union members in democratic households.

Before a winner of the primaries is definitively declared, New York’s Board of Elections has to count absentee ballots and integrate the results into ranked choice voting.

With more than 175,000 members in 11 states and Washington, D.C., including 85,000 in New York, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country
