32BJ Congratulates Democratic Congressional Candidate Ayanna Pressley

Boston, MA— On Tuesday night, 32BJ SEIU members proudly celebrated Ayanna Pressley’s primary win in Massachusetts’ Seventh Congressional District. With 163,000 members across the East Coast, 32BJ SEIU is the nation’s largest property service workers union, representing some 18,000 janitors, security officers, food service workers and other property service workers in Massachusetts alone, including some 5,000 living in the Seventh Congressional District. Over the course of the primary elections, 32BJ invested in Pressley’s campaign with an independent expenditure and weekly canvas days where dozens of 32BJ members volunteered and nocked on more than 10,000 doors in their neighborhoods to get out the vote for Ayanna Pressley.

“Our union members campaigned tirelessly to help elect Ayanna Pressley because we wholeheartedly agree that change cannot wait. This historic victory represents a unique opportunity for working families in the seventh district to be represented by a woman who has a tireless commitment to raising living standards, defending workers’ rights and protecting people who rarely see themselves reflected in our state’s leadership.” said Roxana Rivera, Vice-President of 32BJ SEIU. “32BJ We look forward to continuing to support Pressley as she enters the election season as our Democratic candidate for Congress.”
