32BJ SEIU today responded to President Trump’s unveiling of his tax plan.
‘Trump’s massive tax breaks for the wealthy and big corporations will be paid for by cutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, education, and other vital services,” said Héctor Figueroa, President of 32BJ SEIU. “This is not a tax reform plan for middle class families; it is a tax scam benefiting the wealthiest 1 percent.
“Once again, the American people are being sold a bill of goods that if we give more money to the wealthy, the jobs will come trickling down. If President Trump were serious about creating good jobs, he would instead support job-creating investments in roads, bridges, schools and health care. So far, everything he has proposed would actually eliminate jobs.”
A new analysis from Americans for Tax Fairness shows that the Trump tax plan’s unpaid-for tax cuts for the wealthy may total $5 trillion. The resulting jump in the deficit threatens funding of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, public education and other vital services.
With 163,000 members in eleven states and Washington, D.C., 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country
