GROTON, CT—32BJ members today announced their endorsement of Tim Bowles for election to the Connecticut State Senate in the 18th District, which includes the towns of Griswold, Groton, North Stonington, Plainfield, Preston, Sterling, Stonington, and Voluntown. The members endorsed Bowles, who is running on both the Democratic Party and the Working Families Party tickets, to help win a higher minimum wage and more full-time hours for Connecticut workers next year.
A former State Representative in the 42nd District and Preston Town Selectman, Tim Bowles is a social worker by trade who has long understood the needs of working men and woman and supported their fight for respect at the workplace. His opponent, Heather Somers, demonstrated her party loyalty in a recent debate by pledging to vote for Donald Trump, whose tax plans would cost the nation billions in revenue and only benefit only the wealthiest Americans.
“I am honored to receive the backing of hard-working janitors and security officers who clean and protect our office towers and public buildings across the state,” said Tim Bowles. “I support their fight to ensure the minimum wage is a livable wage and that workers have access to full-time hours, a fight that would benefit tens of thousands of workers and their families in Connecticut.”
“This year more than ever, our members are supporting candidates who will tackle issues that affect working people, such as raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and increasing full-time work,” said 32BJ Connecticut District Assistant Supervisor Alberto Bernardez. “Tim Bowles has shown his commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of workers in his district, and we are proud to endorse him for election to the State Senate.”
