For AOL users

Why am I getting a message about JavaScript?
If you are accessing the web using Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4 or above, your browser supports JavaScript. If you are getting a message box related to JavaScript, you may have an earlier browser version, or you may have disabled this feature. To enable it, adjust your browser options. If you need to upgrade to a new browser, go to http://home.netscape.com/browsers/ or http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp where you will find the most recent free browsers.

How do I open a pdf file?
A pdf file is opened using Adobe Acrobat Reader software. If you have a computer that you purchased through 32BJ, this software is already installed, and you only have to double click on the linked pdf file. If you do not have this software on your computer, you can download it for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.

What is that message that appears when I log in?
For a temporary period while we are still working to complete this improved version of your union’s site, you may see a message that pops up when you first log on. This message indicates that your browser software cannot verify the "certificate" that guarantees the validity of the web site's encryption. This guarantee is in process, but in the interim, your data is still secure. For more information on privacy, read this site’s privacy policy.

A note on cookies
This site uses both temporary and persistent cookies. These must be enabled in your browser for your login information to be retained. Otherwise when you revisit the 32BJ web site, we will not recognize that you have already logged in. The 32BJ site does not use cookies to store personal information about you or to track the pages you view during your session.

For AOL users
If you are an AOL user and you use the browser provided by AOL, your browser is somewhat different from the versions used by non-AOL users. These differences affect how images appear when you browse the web, and also how certain windows pop–up on your screen. To maximize your experience on the 32BJ web site, make sure that "image compression" is turned off in your browser. Also, if you find that you are not connecting to a new page when you click on certain links – either on the Home page or the Events Calendar – check to see if a new window has opened underneath the window that you started out from.

To turn off image compression, follow the steps outlined below. To determine which browser version you are using, click "Help" and then "About America Online.":

For AOL 6.0 browsers

  1. Select "Settings" from the menu.
  2. Choose "Preferences" from the drop-down list.
  3. Select the "Internet Properties (WWW)" from the Preferences dialog box.
  4. Select the "Web Graphics" tab in the AOL Internet Properties dialog box.
  5. Select the option "Never compress graphics" on the Web Graphics tab.

For AOL 4.0 browsers

  2. Choose "Preferences" from the drop-down list.
  3. Click on the "WWW" icon in the Preferences dialog box.
  4. In the Web Preferences section, turn off the feature called "Use compressed graphics" by clicking on the black check mark to remove it.
  5. Press OK.

To see the effect of this change you must close and re-open your AOL browser. Occasionally, it may take a few hours to see the effect of this change while AOL updates their systems.
